The Bi-Ministry Employer Relations Committee (BMERC) was agreed to by both parties during the 2017-18 round of Corrections collective agreement negotiations. With a stand-alone Corrections Collective Agreement, an over-arching committee presiding over corporate matters for both Ministries was required. BMERC replaces the function previously held by Central Employee Relations Committee (CERC), and, shall discuss issues of a corporate nature that apply to COR bargaining unit employees from the Ministry of Solicitor General (SolGen) and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS).
The BMERC Committee meets quarterly.
Both parties agree to appoint at least one (1) representative from each ministry. The Union members are appointed by their respective MERCs.
