On the same day Finance Minister Dwight Finance announced legislation that would take away their constitutionally protected rights, more than 250 OPSEU members came out to donate non-perishable food items to the OPS Food Drive.
On September 26, OPSEU members donated more than 200 cans and dried goods to the food drive, hosted by OPSEU Locals 502, 503 and 508. Members dropped by the St. Lawrence Lounge in the Hearst Block for coffee and donuts and picked up some information about bargaining.
Despite the McGuinty Liberals targeting public sector workers with draft legislation that will take away their right to free collective bargaining, OPSEU members showed their compassion and caring for the large number of Ontarians who have fallen victim to the economic situation in this province.
