Consent Agenda

Minutes of previous meeting

The OPSEU Executive Committee adopted the OPSEU Executive Committee Minutes of January 17, 2019 and January 31, 2019 E-poll.

January 31, 2019 E-poll:

Corrections Lobby Day 2019

Moved by Thomas/Almeida

Whereas Ontario’s Correctional Facilities and Probation and Parole Offices have been overworked, understaffed and provided inadequate resourcing for decades; and

Whereas public safety, inmate safety and the safety of Correctional Services staff is at an all-time low; and

Whereas successive Liberal and Conservative governments have continued to ignore the serious deterioration of the Correctional Services in Ontario; and

Whereas the Ontario Provincial Election in 2018 saw 73 new MPPs elected to Queens Park; and

Whereas it is crucial for OPSEU Corrections members to educate and advocate for political change through effective lobbying;

Therefore be it resolved that OPSEU will support the March 28, 2019 Corrections Lobby Day by funding a catered breakfast at Queen’s Park and supply information packets of printed documents and Corrections branded swag; and

Be it further resolved that the OPSEU Executive Committee approve the funds as outlined in the attached proposal, to be drawn from the Contingency Fund.
