OPSEU members in the Sudbury area will be the first to host a local launch event for the new video, Made in the USA: Tim Hudak's plan to cut your wages. The Sept. 26 launch is the first of many designed to spark discussion among union members, community groups, and interested citizens about the Ontario PC party's proposal to bring an American-style "right-to-work" law to Ontario. Such laws, sometimes known as "free-rider" laws in union circles, allow individuals to receive the benefits of union representation without paying the dues that make those benefits possible. In the U.S., free-rider laws have led to weaker unions — and lower wages and benefits for workers generally.
