The COVID-19 pandemic makes this one of the most unusual Thanksgiving weekends we’ve had in decades.

Knowing that thousands of Canadians have lost loved ones or have become sick makes it hard to think in terms of being thankful.

But as front-line public sector workers you can take a lot of pride in how you have stepped up and have been there for Ontarians when it has really counted.

You’ve put your health and lives on the line to help Ontarians get through this pandemic.  When much of the province was shut down earlier this year, you were at your posts, keeping the wheels turning and providing some continuity that folks could hold on to.

We’re in a second wave and we’ve got some more tough weeks and months ahead, but we know that we will get through this pandemic thanks to the heroic work all of you do.

For this weekend, try to take some time with those in your household and enjoy the holiday.  If you live alone, we know this is a tough weekend but your OPSEU/SEFPO family is with you.  Thank you for following public health guidelines.  If possible, connect virtually with family and friends. And remember, we’re all in this together. Stay safe and thank you for all you do.

 Happy Thanksgiving
