Dozens of workers from Participation Lodge took a road trip to London, Ontario on Tuesday, October 24. First they picketed the office of the Ministry of Community and Social Services, then they held a rally in front of the South West LHIN.
Demanding that Participation Lodge be held accountable for their shady funding decisions, a letter from OPSEU President, Warren (Smokey) Thomas was hand delivered at the LHIN to the attention of CEO Michael Barrett. CTV London came out to shoot a video documenting their concerns as a strike moves into its fifth week. OPSEU Regional Board Member Ron Elliott joined the workers at the pickets in support.
Solidarity continues to be strong as these workers demand accountability and a return to the table. The employer has taken up residence inside the agency together with replacement workers, thereby extending the strike rather than negotiating.
